too sweet to die

One of my old college roommates sent me this photo yesterday. It’s of his LL Bean backpack with a custom monogram that reads ASSMUNCH. It just goes to show you how well their stuff holds up, because he got that bag like 15 years ago. I remember the story well:

Him [on phone with LL Bean]: I would like to purchase a backpack.

Customer Service Drone: No problem. [Takes order.] Would you like a custom monogram on that?

Him: Yes, please. I would like it to read ASSMUNCH, in all capital letters.

CSD: I’m sorry?

Him: ASSMUNCH, all caps.

CSD: I’m afraid we can’t do that, sir.

Him: Why not?

CSD: It’s…not your name.

Him: May I speak to your supervisor?

CSD: [Sighs.] ASSMUNCH it is, sir.

They *are* legendary for their customer service.
